OT: End of forced Child Support

May 11, 2011 92 Replies

Over 18 years of child support in a stupid libtarded system, and I'm ahead in payments! In less than 2 weeks my last child on child support (mother support) graduates high school. According to the law, childsupport is supposed to end when the child is 18 (last December) or is out of school (less than 2 weeks). So, do I have to hire a lawyer to stop the support? Or is it supposed to be automatic? (as in a beginning and ending date for withholding). I guess I need a judge to decide how much college support to pay? I wish the government would stop interfering so I could help out my kids with what they really need.

Did the government prevent you from helping out your kids with what they really needed? If so, how and what. Eric

Liberals aren't the ones responsible for your failure to practice effective family planning.

Suggest read the court order see what it says....

Yeah, sure there have. Let's see a cite for even *one* instance of that happening.

Strangers on a train, Alfred Hitchcock.

No. Just stop.

No. It's up to you to decide that.

If your decree says you're done at age 18 or when done with school, then you're done. Mom is on her own, kids are emancipated. What you do after that is up to you.

Not a spouse, but a relative:

The movie 'Throw Mama from the train'.

Illinois

Best I can find out it's up to whatever the court decides.

The smart thing to do is stop on the appropriate date. If you are worried about some possible legal shenanigans, open a bank account just for the purpose of depositing your regular payments into it.

Should some court decide that you should be paying, you will have the money handy.

After a year of saving, pull the cash, close the account, and forget about it all.

That sounds like a good idea but the money is deducted from my paycheck. I didn't see my employers order for withholding and not sure if it has an end date or not. I'll contact the payroll department at work and discuss this with them, then I may have to get a lawyer.

RogerN

Indeed.

Whenever a Liberal utters the term "Common Sense approach"....grab your wallet, your ass, and your guns because the sombitch is about to do something damned nasty to all three of them.

Cars, clothes (for herself), booze, gambiling etc. I've seen it. Never had kids of my own. My wife was getting $30.00 a week when and if the EX wanted to pay it. She had to keep writing letters to the state to keep the EX out of jail. ( what good would that do?)

The system is broke, but the courts will always side with the mother. (99% anyway)

Call me naive, but I think that Illinois, child support payments are very reasonable. I have no intentions to divorce, but I am sure that I am spending way more on kids and the household now, than I would be required if I had to pay child support.

Of course, yes, it is unfortunate that the custodial parent has no obligation to use the money for kids, but enforcing that would not be practicable.

One of my friends is a single dad with sole custody. He takes care of kids quite well.

Very funny. They have some character.

Enforcement might be tough, but maybe if there was even a hint of some type of requirement, maybe, some parents would spend a little more of the money on their kids. Yes, I do realize that some parents do spend the money on the kids, but there are the few who use it as FREE money to either lavish themselves with, or see it as party money.

The money was for my ex to do as she saw fit and I was OK with that until she asked for more money for the kids right after getting a large increase for the kids, and spending the money on herself.

So you would be OK with someone beating your son a little as long as you knew there were others that would beat him worse?

I have a son that lives with me and I know 100% certain that he gets far less money spent on him that I pay in child support.

Look up "Walter Scott" a performer from the 80's I think. Real name Walter Notheis, I believe. His wife hooked up with another guy and both spouses ended up dead. It took the authorities about a decade to even find his body. Unfortunately for the in-laws, they dumped him in a cistern and the oxygen-depleted water preserved his body perfectly. Then, they looked into his wife's affairs, and started looking into the unexplained death of her new beau's wife, and eventually hauled them in for questioning. I'm not sure this qualifies exactly as an exchange killing, but this is one that comes to mind.

Yesterday I contacted payroll and asked if their order for withholding hand an end date on it. They looked it up and they were supposed to stop deducting child support from my check since December 2010, daughters 18th birthday. So now my employer is in process of getting child support deductions removed from my paycheck. Yesterday was also my daughters last day of high school, sometimes things work out. Now for the college.

Do you have any cites you are allowed to post here?

GEEESH!

Yeah, sure there have. Let's see a cite for even *one* instance of that happening.
