OT Web Page 'Hit' Counters

Hi all,

Does anyone know where I could get simple freeby stand alone hit counter.

In other words, one that would actually live on my web server, doesn't phone home, or go to outside web sites and the like.

I'm new at all this web page stuff...

Thanks!

A google search on "hit counter" returns almost 4mil hits. The first several to come up say "free". Bound to be a suitable one there somewhere.

You need to contact you web hosting provider and see what hit counter works with their server software. They usually have a free hit counter or web page log and server statistics.

I don't know about *on* your server... AFAIK it'll at least need a CGI script or so. Probably PHP nowadays...

Good luck, Erik! My ISP supplied a hit counter but it eventually crapped out for a whole lot of viewers when Microsoft's recent service pack came out. It still works fine on my old Win98 machine, but when anyone running WinXP with the service pack update logs on, they get nothing in the hit counter frame.
