Camping at LDRS

Might want to look at aluminum horse trailers, also. I've got a four-horse gooseneck trailer with a camper in front. Has a ramp. Removable dividers allows me to load my small tractor.

With me, every time I take mine out, something major gets broken! Reefer caught on fire a few years ago. 2 grand! Last summer I hit a curb which took out the blackwater tank. 1 grand! Same summer an A-hole hit my tow vehicle in a parking lot in Maryland. 1 grand.

Ah, well, it's still the only way to travel!

I've looked at those horse type trailers. They generally cost between $30,000 and $40,000. Very nice, but pretty pricy if you aren't showing horses.

Brian... while I may later find myself biting my tongue - initial talks in committee - we are thinking that those wishing to camp, may do so in any normal "parking spot", we may designate an RV section ... more so because of space, than running any generator. But then I would reserve the right to move a camper or one using a generator with excessive noise to an area that is less obtrusive.

As far as any camping fees goes... it must be noted that the 1941 HAG (landowner) must handle any actual yearly camping permit & fees with New York State. This is why we (BRS & MARS) have historically donated any camping fees to the 1941 HAG. Check out the cost to park your RV at the nearest camp site (Letchworth State Park) and that will answer the question why there is a fee charged. The better reason is that at least the fees are going to a good cause. :)

Matt... I can state that with about 85% certainty that camping will be allowed at LDRS23. It's a matter of confirming with the landowner that they are obtaining a camping permit and that it OK that our event particpants are able to camp. I would expect that we will know within the next 2-3 weeks the exact status of camping. In other words - it's an issue that we're aware of, dealing with, and as soon as we're able to say with 100% confidence - it will be posted on the LDRS23 website & we'll let you know.

Actually if I we not needed back at the host motel - I'd say camping out at (LDRS23)Geneseo would be fun. Really... about the only thing one can see at night on the field is the stars! Beisdes - if camping is allowed at LDRS23 it will only serve to support the 1941HAG (landowner).

I would only have them move back a row or three so as not to interferre with the sight lines in the event of a head's up flight.......if you can't see everyone looking in your direction you may not have a clue of the big event about to overtake you. The RV guys are free security for the pads at night, so it should be a win-win all the way around.

They are a great group with incredible hamburgers, just keep the HAG hut open a little later in the day......Doug did they secure the Memphis Belle in their hangar? If so we're needing a peak even if it takes a donation. :-)

I would hope we would at least have room for our awning and such. I really liked the way camping was done LDRS last year, even though it was not at all organized.

I have no problem paying a fee if the LDRS host group has to pay out for a permit. I didn't realize New York state charges a fee for temporary camping.

I'll bet the state park also has water, electricity, and a shower house. I'm guessing only amenity you guys have are trash dumpsters and porta potties.

Understood. Last time I was involved in a NARAM, the hotel was 5 miles from home. It's the only time I didn't stay at the NARAM hotel. And I really regretted it, as I missed out on a lot of the action.

During the many Mardi Gras parades, it's customary for female revelers to "show portions of their uniquely female anatomy" in exchange for strings of beads thrown from the folks on the floats...
