I'm thinking 3.30:1 is the current rear end restriction.

Trap RPM for a typical funny car or top fuel car is in the 8000-8500RPM range.

You still need gears in the rear end housing,until they go to front wheel drive top fuelers :-)

You're right about the 3.20 ratio, too. The more I think about it, it sounds about right...and the 95% nitro rule is still in practice. Since MI doesn't have good cheesesteaks, how about a Gyro. There's a million Greek restaurants in MI. ;-)

Agreed that they are direct drive, but top speed is limited by ability of the motor to keep from disassembling at high rpms. This is related to the rear end ratio primarily because they reach top speed shortly after the 1/8th mile marker and all clutches are engaged by then.
