This Whole Homeland Security Thing Now Makes Sense

I will second this post. I think the Democrats position of look how supid Bush is is exactly what he wants. He then sneeks up on them and wham gets what he wants. All the while they are not paying attention to that stupid so and so. As I do not like all that he has done ie. Homeland sounds to much like fatherland and this bothers me! Homeland security, the Patriot Act 1 & 2. The eroding of our rights and the majority of citizens going so what, scares me. On the other hand the democrats running bother me more! I wish there was someone better with a viable chance.

Why is it that the conservative politicians and commmentators have this tendency to paint themselves into corners by conflicts between their rhetoric and their lives? I mean, nobody would be giving Rush and Newt so much grief about their drug and sex habits if they hadn't publicly taken such hard-line positions against "drug abuse" and "sexual misconduct"...

Ironic, eh?

No, our enrichment and reactor processes couldn't have turned out another of either bomb design for quite some time after the three original devices were detonated.

Because only a conservative can have those conflicts. It's easy to be a liberal, when you endorse bad behavior you're free to behave badly.

That is true. One has clear criminal intent (or at least constitutes a medical problem in need of correction) and the other is sociallyacceptable recreational behavior that happens to be ineffectively targeted by the government for prohibition.

Prove it.

Of course. As the things you mention run counter to conservative philosophy they cannot be done by conservatives.

*Your* conservative philosophy.

Your kind of conservatives are in the minority in this country. You wouldn't do well at the polls, especially if people found out what you really believe.

Your kind of conservatives and my kind of liberals are actually closer together in our goals than the majority of liberals and conservatives in politics.

And when the Democrats rejected them, they became Republicans - where they were welcomed.

True conservative philosophy.

Quite right. It's sad to say but there are very few freedom-loving Americans left.

Only if your kind of liberals are classic liberals, which is another term for conservatives, but classic liberals don't tend to vote Democratic as you do. Classic liberals and modern liberals have nothing in common.

It was the Democrats that gave us Jim Crow and opposed civil rights. Republicans tried several times to pass civil rights legislation but as they were the minority party in Congress couldn't get it past Democratic opposition. It only passed in the sixties when enough Democrats finally crossed party lines.

I'm familiar with it. One cannot have a discussion with a Democrat without encountering it.
