What to buy - F & G rockets?

I had a Maxi Alpha that I built with a 29mm motor mount. It flew well with E's and F's. I did cover the balsa fins with tissue. It would probably have taken most G motors, but I'd have wanted to increase the fin root bending stiffness, just to be safe. Sadly, a bad E20 motor burned it up on the pad. Oh, I never lost or dammaged a fin.

I checked out the website, it looks like most of the SU mid-power motors and about half the reloads are OUT of stock.

In addition, they no longer ship EZ-access reloads. Great, only a 3-state drive. Plus they only have them with medium delays.

Mid-power is really screwed now, and I don't expect it to improve soon.

I DEMAND that NAR/TRA certify USR motors NOW. Otherwise the gods will be ANGRY.

I thought the rocket god was already angry about this--isn't that why he posts his cites here?

NAR refusesto cewrtand hereis the latest bullshitexcuse:

National Association of Rocketry Board of Trusteeis Meeting July 31, 2003 - August 4, 2003

Motor Acceptance for Certification - Jerry Irvine asked the Board to direct Standards and Testing to accept motor submissions from ACS-Reaction labs if those motors were delivered by any legal means, Documents issued by any recognized competent authority by UN were submitted prior to testing, and appropriate fees were paid in advance,

The Board took no action on this request and noted that such motors would not necessarily meet current S&T standards. In particular, S&T requires documents issued solely by DOT in order to insure that motors accepted for certification could be legally shipped via common carrier means. Selected motors which could be classed DOT 1.1 can legally be shipped, under certain conditions, but would not meet either S&T or NFPA criteria for testing.

Look who let this stand!

The Meeting was called to order. Present were: Jennifer Ash-Poole Jack Kane Mark Johnson George Rachor George Gassaway Mark Bundick Steve Lubliner Stuart McNabb Trip Barber joined Saturday evening.

TRA received an ATF permit and rental agreement for a fixed address and as we have clearly seen now with Aerotech at three addresses, DOT papers good for more than one address.

They refused certificication of USR motors. They even refused RENEWAL certification of USR motors and those have NO paperwork requirements at all since they have already been completed and approved!

There's nothing stopping you from using USR motors right now, without certification.
