Hi,

Does anyone knows a supllier who makes a interior detail set for the Tamiya kit (1/48) Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat?

Many thanks Jose Luis da SIlva Sintra-Portugal

Actually the kit interior is pretty nice as it is. The one thing that needs to be done is to cut away around the foot runners since the real cockpit was open to below.

Yes, yes - and to make this mod even easier and better looking, Evergreen has some C-channel stock that is a perfect replacement for the foot troughs molded into the kit part.

A great mod is to cut out the part in the center that the stick gets glued into and just use that with lengths of C-channel stock glued to each side for the foot boards and a length of rod down the back of the control column part for the stick pushrod.

I've done this on two kits already. This mod in conjunction with the Eduard etch set makes a GREAT looking cockpit - especially that Eduard seat. The remaining kit parts for the cockpit are nicely molded and look great when painted.
