I agree it is the decision of the committee and not ours and I do think it is a misguided one. I don't agree with the privileges comment, it is the effort of the SIG leaders/SIG members that run the SIG's, not the committee's. It was noted at the meeting at SMW Sunday morning that the SIG's, as a concept, have grown way beyond what the IPMS had originally planned them to be (whatever that was) so shouldn't this tell them something? People join SIG's because they are actually beneficial to them, a concept the committee may do well to study. All I'm asking for is parity with the IPMS branches, in other words a minimum of 5 members to constitute one. How is it I can happily go to a branch meeting 12 times a year without being an IPMS member but the same does not apply to a SIG? The problem is that I can join your SIG Dale (which I intend to do BTW) and I could, had I the mind, give you a false IPMS number, just how do you check it's correct or not? We have around 15 overseas members in our SIG, I cannot check their validity so I think it's unfair to single out UK residents only for interrogation. I don't know just how many IPMS members I have in the SIG or not, all I do know is that the members we do have contribute to the continuation of the SIG, which is all you can ask.

Agreed. I joined Subterranea Britannica (UK bunkers and tunnels etc.) for £15 this year and so far have gotten two glossy mags with clear pics, some in colour (compared with grainy b+w shots of a black Valiant B2?!), with excellent write-ups, fewer spelling mistakes and a damn sight more to read. Added to that is insurance for visiting the actual places on specially organised trips and a website that is regularly updated

What does the IPMS-UK provide for me? I'd love to see a breakdown of what the £20 pays for, apart from an AGM in a country hotel miles from anywhere. (Strangely enough it was near the WW2 UK Resistance HQ, of interest to Sub-Brit!)

Post WW2 aircraft and squadron markings and the paint schemes, particularly the early jets.
