OT: Amazon/UPS Shipping

seems UPS' site states they delivered a package to my house 8 days ago. I never saw it, or signed for anything. Any one else notice that UPS does not even knock on the door any more. they just drop and run. You don't even have to sign anything.

so I think it is safe to say it was stolen off my walkway within minutes of delivery as I got home a few minutes after the stated delivery time.

Anyone had any luck with processing claims thru Amazon/UPS? I charged the item and I will contest the charge as I never received the item.

UPS flames accepted as well as advice.

Assuming that the UPS guy dropped it on the correct walkway. I regularly get mail addressed to a neighbor who lives on the next street but has the same house number I do.

UPS actually delivering something to my door has only happened once. They seem to deliver my stuff to my neighbors a lot. I'm baffled how they stay in business.

I pre-ordered a bunch of first release DVDs last spring (Battle of Britain, Blue Max, etc). They gave me an estimated delivery for 10-12 days or so after they were to be released. I figured they must have sold out the first bunch from earlier preorders and mine were probably coming from the second. When they were late I checked tracking found out they had shipped before the actual published release date and according to the log, had been delivered to my house just a few days later, 8 or 9 days before their estimated delivery date and now a few weeks earlier. Checked with the neighbors but none had them.

I E-mailed Amazon and got a response back within a day. No hassle at all. They shipped out replacements immediatly along with instructions on what to do if the original showed up, which they did. They had delivered them to a neighbor who we'd already asked if they had seen it and had said no but found them when she was packing to move.

Yeah, I was honest and sent the dups back.

We sent an Xmas package to our kids in Virginia Beach, VA a few years ago. In it were some nice smelling dog treats for their two Labs. The UPS jerk just dropped the package over the fence to the dog yard and that was the last of everything. Lesson learned: only ship by USPS with a signed delivery receipt. Pete

yes. you are right. just got an email from UPS saying they delivered it to a house around three miles away. the address was not even close to mine. now I have to deal with Amazon to get it resolved as they won't let UPS do it anymore. I could go and knock on the door of the house in question but you never know what is on the other side, and since it was delivered 8 days ago, I doubt the guy is terribly responsible about returning it....
