OT: Turkey Day

from nostalgicplastic.com...

Again, I wish all a Happy Thanksgiving. And the real question is: Turkey or Ham?

***

so what will we all be having? in our house we each eat our favorites so we are all not forced to eat that weird green jellow with pears and cream cheese, cold mash potatoes, beans with that crunchy worm stuff on top..

my son wants chinese food with a side of hash browns and an orange soda. my daughter wants shrimp and grape soda.

I think only the wife is having some of the traditional stuff.

As for me I plan a day of enchiladas, tacos, chili, hot links and some alcohol. may even attempt to work on a model.

oh, and my 1/350 Hasegawa Nagato showed up today. another kit for the attic.

Since it will only be me and Mom (and the cat) I have a turkey thigh to cook. Nothing fancy, just that and veggies.

Without question, I prefer turkey, but every year that we've been near my wife's family we do the big family meal with her parents, her brother's family (+wife and six kids), and our 5 kids. This year my brother is coming as well. About 18 mouths to feed so both will be served.

Our family is home for the Thanksgiving holidays, dinner will be traditional turky and stuffing and all the fixings. And a football game in the PM. Dick..

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it. My wife and I do the full nine yards - turkey, stuffing, veges, squash, cranberry orange relish, cocktails, wine and pies. Leftovers forever and Turkey sandwiches for lunch for the next week. And while the bird cooks hopefully I'll get to sniff some glue, paint and plastic while my wife cooks and watches the Macy parade, and the cats try their best to destroy my latest creation in works. Kind of nice being able to sit home, relax in front of an open fireplace and eat more than is usually good for me. Having the next day off to recoperate also helps.

Happy Thanksgiving to all:

For me it's dinner for two at MiMi's Cafe ......... Turkey & Dressing, Mashed Potatoes and all the other good stuff and a nice bottle of wine.

Sometimes having the nearest family 1500 miles away is good / sometimes not. We make the best of it.

Cheers (:>

The construction manual is all in kanji, but the isometric drawings are very good. That has not, however, kept me from looking for a "J with a coolie hat", or "a house with feet". Never the less, I managed to get the stand/power supply wired correctly, so I will shortly be taking it apart to do some clean up and painting.

The keels and three major bottom plates (making up about 2/3 of the hull) went together very well, but some shimming will be required around the launch bay, not to mention the need to paint the interior of the launch bay. Anybody know what color(s) it was?

White Man STEAL Indian Walking Bird, Fish, and Pig. Curse of Lakota Stewed Tribe is on White Man. May his pull-tab never win for him. May his dice always come up "snake eyes" to match his lying tongue. May the roulette wheel never spin in his favor, and bingo balls never match his play card. May all cards in Blackjack be marked against him. May his visit to "Tepee Of Chance" be like Yellow Hair's visit to Little Bighorn. May Lakota Stewed people strip shirt from his back, and make him walk "Trail Of Beers" with no wampum in his pockets. May his home be taken from him by squaw's divorce lawyers, and only cheap Chinese lead beads be given to him for it. HA-HA-HA! Moccasin is on other foot now, isn't it, Whitey? ;-)

Lakota Stewed Tribe shall eat maize today...which you call ethanol. Lakota Stewed Tribe has now been blessed by Great Spirit, and now firewater shall fuel your cars at $10.00 per gallon, like you sold it to us many moons ago. Ha-Ha-Ha! Is Sitting Bull's prophecy fulfilled. Now you shall drive no more forever. White Man think OPEC squeezing balls. White Man has no idea how Red Man is going to scalp him. ;-)

To my Mother-In-Laws for Turkey with all the trimmings cooked by my Brother-In-Law. It was great! They're Jewish, so I have to wait until next week for some nice spiral cut ham with mashed potatoes and turkey gravy.

Up early for the sales and the windows around Union Square in San Francisco.

Lots of modeling for the next few days with Lynne home for the week. Got all of the honey dos finished early. She got me a new laptop and printer for Christmas. I'll bet that she can't wait to play with it. I'll probably get it some time during Channukah. :-)

Digest well,

Tom
