Problems with Xtracrylics

Hello,

I've just used this new paint range from Hannants, more specifically their matt varnish. The finish is perfect, but..... My airbrush clogged every five seconds : a white substance appeared on the needle and the spray head. I diluted the varnish with water (as mentioned on the bottle), so I guess that's the problem right ? What would you recommend as a solvent for Xtracrylics, besides their own brand of solvent ?

thanks for any advice

Pierre

Pierre Francois offered me a plate of cheese and whispered:

I've found a similar problem. I overcame it by turning the pressure down.

Ordinary cellulose thinners work well. However, I usually find that I don't have to thin Xtracrylix at all.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm already using a low setting....

use an " acrylic airbrush medium" to thin with ...It inhibits tip dry , retains sprayability, and strength. Water and alcohol ..ect... weakin the mix and promote tip dry ... "medium" is needed to re-invigorate the mix. use it with any waterbased paints. a bottle goes a long way.

When you say low, what pressure do you spray at. I never spray acrylics at more than 10-15 PSI thru my Badger 100G or 150.
