RE: AVG Antivirus

I just upgraded to V7.x AGV Free (after being forced from 6.x). Guess what..it's removed all of the icons from the desktop, removed all of the desktop settings, reset all of IE6's settings, changed my home page AND wiped all of the last 2 years worth of emails from Outlook. In addition, there's no way to return to the old settings and they don't include an uninstall. Go somewhere else rather than upgrading unless you want to rebuild everything manually. R. Wink

I have installed it on many PC's, not once has that happened.

Amazing and intriguing things you speak of. Will you explain? What say you? What be these curious whimsical things ye speak of...these "Vi-roos" things you mention?

I also upgraded from AVG6 to v.7.0.296 with no problem. From the sound of it, you seem to have lost an entire user profile (if you're using Windows XP). Try looking in C:\Documents and Settings to see if your usual user account is there. Also try searching for " **.dbx " (without the quotes) to see if you can locate your mailboxes. Hope this helps, Chek

Just my .02.

I use Yahoo mail and they do a credible job blocking viruses and catching spam. I have Norton Internet Security plus SpyBot and Ad-aware. I've had numerous attacks both direct probes and other embedded attacks.

Seems to be working.
