Are you sure about not bringing them here? It seems they are really into making your life miserable and a quick header comparison search seems to equate " snipped-for-privacy@some.domain", "e" and "tooftoof", among others. The mp3 hierarchies seem to be well-visited by all three. And, RMS seemed much 'quieter' before any of these participants showed up. Just an observation...

Its sad to hear that the alt.sf.scale-models is nothing but a SPAM trap, it's name sound like it would have been a good resource for builders of Sci-Fi models.

Thank you for the memory refesher. NOT that I miss him, but he hasn't been around much of late has he. Or at least NOT as "e" at any rate.

Hey D_C, since the PGP stuff has been brought up here, I'm curious as to why you use for the newsgroups? Not that this is even remotely secure or vitaly important communication... Newsgroups are open and shared all over this planet. Totally unsecured...

What advantage does the PGP signature give you? How many people will actually theck the validity of it while reading your posts?

I work for a computer company and we use PGP and other such measures when we deliver things like software patches to our customers over the Web. In that instance, using PGP makes sense. That tells our customers that the patch they downloaded actually came from us and nobody "mucked" with it.

In your usage, all you do is make your postings more cluttered...

Sorry, but that is how I feel about this. Your postings are quite amusing and useful, but the your PGP stuff I keep seeing is a waste of the newsgroup's bandwidth. In this instance, I agree with "e".

I use it out of habit, and because quite a while back (can't remember now when or which NG) someone had posted as me.

To be honest I don't know how many will actually check the validity of my signature, but it's there and whether or not they check the validity of my signature or not. I think that most people by now know that I do sign my posts (with the excption of a single line web address post) and IF they saw a "legnthy" post by me that wasn't signed I'm pretty sure that they'd know that I didn't post it. . .

I also use it on ALL of my outgoing E-Mail, as can be attested to by those here that I've exchanged E-Mail with.
