Sorta OT: Is RMS fading away?

Killfiles don't keep anyone from doing the above.

Its something I'm already familiar with and don't need to investigate further to understand.

I sincerely hope that the group is not fading away as you suggest. I agree that the various political exchanges are a waste of space and don't belong here. Are these the "trolls" and "flamers" that you refer to?

On the other hand, I find this to be a very knowledgeable group and I have already picked up a good deal of useful information as well as hints on modelling materials and techniques. I'd hate to lose such a valuable source. If people with an axe to grind could be persuaded to grind it somewhere else, there wouldn't be much wrong with the group.

Personally, I'd like to see a group/board that includes photos. I had a couple of photos of a C-47 that would have helped illustrate a point, but couldn't do that here. Hobby Heaven and the FSM boards allow it. Too bad that this group can't be pulled into the 21st century

Yeah, separating the wheat from the chaff gets harder and harder when all of the knuckleheads that don't model but love to waste bandwidth on meaningless political diatribe show up. I am curious how much was wasted on this inane "apology to Iraq" drivel.

Even makes you long for Azhosers...

Try alt.binaries.models.scale - a.b.m.s - that's what got me hooked.

I wouldn't go that far!!!

While some may miss the Monkey and the Test Post Club I'm sure that there were few if any that shed a tear when Sheila, the Pizza Man or the Nasty Beaver vaporized.

As to the idea that RMS has horrible political tirades just try a RAM or several railroad sites.

this group is on a text server. the groups with binaries in the title are on binary servers that can handle graphic files. applles and oranges.

I was thinking last night as I was hitting send that I haven't seen anything about the Rama-lamas in a long time. I kind of forget who was last the cook-and-bottle-washer at the TPC.

I wasn't a fan of the monkey, but isn't he over at modelingmadness or one of the other online sites now? And I never heard of the others, but the nasty beaver sounds exciting!

I get to this newsgroup via Google, which doesn't list a.b.m.s. Any altermethods to suggest?

I subscribe using the news reader in Netscape 7.1. Works great for me.

On that note, I spent two delightful evenings at the workbench this week, decalling a 1/144 B-17 and a 1/25 '87 Shelby Charger. I haven't been down there to work in so long I had to dust everything first. I'm itching to get back down there tonight!
