the actual problem is that text servers can get posts hosed by binaries. don't know if it's still a problem. didn't hurt easynews a bit.

Supernews will not show binaries, nor the message they are contained in, in a non-binary group. I never saw the post.

don't want to restore? the floats came out well. i'm going to use the mpc ones on the italieri kit.

Ah, dust, the modeller's bane! Obviously that one was caught in mid-cycle.

Good thing I remembered I built that 30+ years ago. I see about a half-dozen things that bug me about it. I'm hoping that I do a much better job on the Eduard kit I got to replace that.

All the 25 year old models I had stored in cardboard boxes under the basement stairs were filthy with dust that wouldn't blow off, even with the compressed air cans. The ones I showed over in abms had to be washed. I sprayed them with Windex, let them sit a half minute, brushed the heavy looking stuff with an artist's brush (mostly the top sides), and then rinsed them with warm water under the kitchen faucet (closing off the drain!). I gently shook the water out, and then placed them in front of a 65W Plant grow lamp for a few minutes.

Sounds good. I remember one of the magazines running an article on cleaning models a long time ago. It consisted of lukewarm soapy water applied with Q-tips. I did that once. It just took so long with the vast quantity of plastic I had then. It's generally an excellent method if you have a few models.

One thing I tried for the masses was the static dust cloths available in packs at the grocery. They do a fabulous job where they can be used but they will grab antennae and pitots, sometimes right off.
