No Edrawings Professional???

Hi folks, I've been using Solidworks for a number of years for other companies and recently bought my own seat. I'm a bit disappointed that edrawings professional is not included with the package and the free edrawing viewer is useless for what my customers have become accustom to! When did this change? I've spoken to my VAR about getting a stand alone package, which they haven't got back to me on... I'm sure they will try to nick me for a $1000. Anyone out there feel the same pain?

Cheers Andrew

Andrew,

You must have only purchased the core SolidWorks package. To get eDrawings Pro you need to purchase SolidWorks Professional.

They also offer SolidWorks Premium with more added features.

As far as I know, it never changed. Edrawings was included from Day One, but Edrawings Pro was always bundled with the higher price spread.

Thanks for your reply Anna, It's also stated that edrawings is included in the vanilla Solidworks package. It would be more accurate to say edrawing "viewer" is included... but why would they do that? It's free to download.

No, it's not just the viewer, since it allows you to publish eDrawings. Many of us would say it is not very useful without the added features that eDrawings Pro gets you, but they were pretty clear about what you got with each.

I get upset about the way that SW bundles the software, but I also get upset at the prices that other CAD companies charge for individual modules. I guess it's a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't.

You don't need edrawings installed to "save as" an edrawing... same as you don't need AutoCAD installed to save as a dwg. Complimentary export features... I'm surprised they don't make you upgrade to office to do that too. I realize I'm whipping a dead horse ... I just needed to vent.

Can you save an eDrawing out of core SolidWorks that has all the markup, measure, explode, etc, features embedded that eDrawings Pro offers?

Yea,

But didn't SW charge $100 USD for Pro when it first came out. Did I hear someone say $1000 USD
