Pattern of Offsets

Hi All, Does any one know if it is possible to pattern offsets in SWX2005? I am trying to create a parametric model with equally spaced concentric rectangles and would like to be able to control the number of layers but as far as i can tell the offsets need to be made individually. There is a scale pattern in sketches but it is not usefull because I need constant offsets. Also I don't think the vary sketch option will work with a pattern feature because the centroid of the sketch is not being patterned in any direction. I could be wrong though. Has anybody worked through this? Cheers, Shane

You mean a series of rectangles nested inside each other? Are they then extruded? You could modify the box subroutine in the STAR benchmark to do this.

Yeah, I'm trying to approximate a winding with a series of concentric shapes. The shape is close to a rectangle, but has chamfered corners with fillets at the ends of the chamfers. So an expanding pattern using this repeated shape with a constant gap between them. The fillets are getting larger as the shape offsets though so the form of the shape is changing. What's the STAR benchmark? I have found a way that almost gets there by extruding the whole shape and using sketch patterns to sweep cuts internal to the lump. Unfortunately when the sketch is selected, after closing it, only the pattern distance is exposed not the pattern number. If that makes any sense??? Shane
