Re: Quiet...

'Had my son make me a CD of the Decemberists for my daily commute...I don't even know where he finds the stuff, but it's good to have a 17-year-old doing the legwork for you.

Yeah, good. I could use that guy for the cover illustration on a patient-education brochure I've been working on.

Me either. But it all comes down to the state and local goverments being unfriendly toward business and opressive taxes.

Dan, It can't be that unfriendly. Trumpf just doubled the size of their facility and are adding people as they can find them and they build machine tools. Beautiful plant, I was on site there for a week last summer. Taxes can go all the way to zero any time the voters elect a slate that will put through the legislation to do so. Same thing with "unfriendliness". Vote in some friendlier legislators.

bzzzt..bzzzt...I love the smell of fried synapses in the morning. It smells like...oh, jeez, it smells awful.

One more minute, Jon, then can run free! You can post those mysterious Mark Winlund posts about me and set up a little Alter of Mark, with candles and everything!

Hey, here's something I read in the new Harper's that ought to interest you (this is serious, no shit, so pay attention): For $19.95, you can buy a set six of Harley-Davidson--brand votive candles. No kidding. You get them from Spirit Harley-Davidson in Glenshaw, PA.

Won't they look spiffy on your Ford GT-40 shrine? You can light them every night before you say your prayers, "Oh Fordy, Fordy..."

'G'night, Jon. I'm gone.

Trumpf is in Farmington, I don't know if they get some tax incentives or not. It is a very nice facility though.

As for taxes:

As for voting I voted in every election. More often than not it was like pissing into the ocean to keep it warm. Moving has worked better.

We are missing out on another housing bubble though. I remember when the last one burst. I sold my house at a small loss in '94. A friend of mine had a house in Waterbury that he put 20% down on, paid the mortgage on for over ten years, then had to take a personal loan for something like

15k when he sold it. But that's what you get for buying in the Brass City.
