RealView 2008

There is a new 2008 RealView page on the SolidWorks Website at:

Click on the images and you can watch realtime viewing of SolidWorks RealView 2008 files.

Additionally, there are two 2008 SP0 model files available, one is the Aston Martin Vanquish and the other is the Space Station from the SWW2007 film "Better Products for the Future". Both of these models are originally built in SolidWorks, but for the sake of file size, I've strip out the features (the space station master model is over

200M!)

the Space Station part has a custom made RealView space environment. Be sure to read the Readme.txt file in the zip after downloading.

Running this avi (which is large and with little compression) won't run very well stream so I removed it. If you're interest, you might want to download the zip file of it to your local drive first:

Mark I have been looking at these 2 models for realview clues cos I am interested in details that would make it possible to use the materials info for Indigo (similar to Maxwell ) either via Blender or from SW itself - either via API as xml or via vrml export as I presently do. It would seem things have changed quite a bit for 08 - I see there is a .2pm file now. Is this a special custom set esp for these models on are all materials saved in this way for SW08? The tire tread material has some gibberish at the beginning to describe the UV and bump? Is there some official description available of the format, purpose, how tagged to the mesh etc that would allow me to utilise this or translate the info for another renderer? thanks
