alright for those on the bleading edge of software. we are looking for the most stable service pack for SWx 2005. right now on 0.1 and it is most dissapointing. looking for advice on most stable one.
Is consternation a factor in SWx usage? iQ

For me, the most stable version of SW 2005 is 2004 SP5 :)
On one hand you have those new 2005 enhancements on the other hand you have 2005 stability issues. Depending if you need those specific enhancements, stability might be more important. Everybody has differing modeling needs.
I agree with haulin79. We have used SW since 1998 and SW2005 is quite disappointing. We sort of were forced into SW2005 because we purchsed Sw2005 cosmosworks and needed to run with it. So we are using SP2.0. I tried to use SP3.0 which was supposed to fix some of my more important problems, but that Sp won't load some of our larger models (>4000 parts). Actually, in all fairness, we can load maybe 50% of the models this size. I don't know why yet.
Even 2004 sp5 has a really annoying bug (not on sp4) .. that is the 'normal to' tool does NOT flick view front to back. FWIW this IS fixed on 2005 sp2 & 3.
My subjective feel is 2004 sp5 is only v slightly more stable (if not at all) than 2005 sp3, but BOTH are far from perfect (my gripe is unhandled error - crash when saving - just THE time when you really dont want a crash !!). For me 2001Plus was the 'last great hope' ...... sad to admit that I enjoyed baylon5
