i have all unlettered steam locomotives that i want to put my own railroad name on. i have the name but what size do i make the artwork ?? as in how high were the letters on most roads? in real life? am doing n scale locomotives. i am not doing anything super fancy was thinking just goldish color letters on the black tenders. all help will be appreciated.

You can do a google search for model railroad custom decals, or check the ads in issues of Railroad Model Craftsman, Model Railroader, Model Railroading, Rail Model Journal, etc. etc., and check the NMRA web site for custom services:

How high are the letters on N-scale tenders that you like the look of?
there's no standard size for the lettering of a railroad...they all have various sizes...in fact, some railroads used various sizes within themselves depending on the type of locomotive, the year produced, etc.
