Gone quiet again

Gentlemen,

We all stuck our heads up for a moan this weekend but apart from that its rather quiet again, nobody done anything interesting this weekend. I must confess that the weather is down to me as I cleaned and polished the Rover on Saturday, been tinkering ever since in and out of the rain. Had intended to go to Lamport Rally but it rained all day yesterday and today I have been waiting for a gentleman to come from London and collect a roof rack I had sold on EBay, we fitted it to his 1970 MGB GT and he went off happy, now off to find the inside of my garage :-))

Near drowned at Lamport yesterday - only the valient few actually ran their engines and I felt a little less than happy about having made a 150 mile + round trip and paid £12 entry for the two of us, all to see a fine display of tarpaulins (oops, I'm moaning again!). One of the few was P T-E to whom we passed a few items I had promised to take.

Nick,

Now he has his camper van there is no excuse not to run :-)) Glad I did not go, a mate did and said the same as you. Was hoping to give the Rover a long run but chickened out :-)) Martin P

I went to visit the Smallwood Vintage Rally - near Congleton on Saturday - a medium to big sized show. The normal mix of cars, bikes, tractors, military, steam and stationary engines. Quite a good selection of old cars and tractors, plus a couple of Land Rover clubs. Plenty of stationary engines though nothing that stopped me in my tracks. I don't know if they got washed out on Sunday, but Saturday was OK.

I was out with Regia Anglorum at Whittington Castle in Shropshire. We had a pleasant day on Saturday, downright miserable on Sunday and an excellent day on Monday, allowing us to wrap & pack our canvas in the dry. It always amazes me that some public will arrive in even the most dire of conditions & we had several hundred thought the gate on Sunday. Much better on Monday though!

Should anyone be in the least interested in a re-enactment event from

1190AD, you can see unedited, straight-off-the-camera shots at
