These are hardly 'rare' as you state in your advert. They can be picked up at any swop meet in the UK for about GBP7 each. I do have some of these which are 'rare'. They are complete repaints in the full 1928 lined livery. If I was selling these I guess I would expect quite a bit mor than GBP7 though!
Alistair
Perhaps they are rare in the Colonies !

It's against the Ebay/Paypal rules to make surcharges for PayPal payments, or at least it was last time I looked.
MBQ
It may well be, but plenty of people include this in their blurb. Needless to say I don't bother with any of these auctions.
Cheers, Martyn
you didn't look in the eBay AUSTRALIA rules
No, I didn't expect it to be any different.
The coaches are just what I'm looking for but like the other poster, I refuse on principle to bid for auctions with surcharges, just as refuse to deal with any other retailer that attempts the same.
MBQ
Actually, I just did.
"Sellers may not charge eBay buyers an additional fee for their use of ordinary forms of payment, including acceptance of cheques, money orders, electronic transfers or credit cards. Such costs should be built into the price of the item.
Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
Listing cancellation
Limits on account privileges
Account suspension
Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
Loss of PowerSeller status
Some Examples Hide
*Not permitted*:Charging an extra fee to use a credit card instead of a cheque.
*Charging an extra fee to use PayPal*"The *...* is my emphasis
So, you ARE breaking the rules of Ebay Australia. Are you going to change the auction or do we need to report a violation?

OR just get a life?

Congratulations for providing such a controlled response. So much better than FOAD :0)
Note the complainant's use of the word "We" so beloved of those in Blair's Britain who have neither the guts nor the ability to work alone and to accept individual responsibility for meddling in the affairs and lives of others to suit their own often warped agendas.
I am amused by the term "colonies" used in the thread. Definitely a case of the cardie and slippers brigade member climbing out of the wheelchair.
Have fun on Ebay. Nobody with any intelligence takes it at all seriously in any case. Unless that is they have lots of time on their hands and as so well put by yourself, need to go get a life.
Cheers.

LOL - but it riles the colonials and is only done for fun. Personally I think we should take the USA back under our wing - for their own good of course. ;-)

Not a bad idea. Not that I'd want to inflict our lot at Westminster on the average US citizen. Maybe one to welcome though when one considers how some US presidents have ended up :0)
Have you got a website John or a public [retail outlet] contact address?
Cheers.

But that means that they'd have to start playing cricket again, and who knows, even they might get better than we are at it, like several other colonial countries think they are.
A seller is allowed to make "reasonable" extra charges for *overseas* bidders provided these are mutually agreeable.
I once got paid in US Dollars for a small item and the cost of converting currencies was more than the item was worth.

A seller is allowed to pass on the costs of currency exchange and postage but not to surcharge merely for the fact that a buyer is overseas. IMHO this still doesn't cover surcharging PayPal users since the PayPal fees include the cost of currency conversion.
So you would have been perfectly within your rights to specify in the auction that a surcharge would be made to cover currency conversion costs.

Common sense dictates that payment has to be made in the currency in which an item is listed. I always list in Pounds Sterling and payment has to be made in that currency.
If the buyer doesn't find that acceptable then he shouldn't bid on the item. I've never had any problems with buyers from many different parts of the worls.
John.
Going slightly O/T, what has really annoyed me recently is certain sellers listing all sorts of items as kitbuilt, even when they are either unmade or, now, it seems to be spreading to Farish r-t-r items. I used to use 'kitbuilt' as a search criteria, but this now means scrolling through pages of completely irrelevant items just to find anything that might interest me. I expect the next step will be listing items as "Bachmann, not kitbuilt".
Sorry,
Whinge over.

That is keyword spamming, and is reportable. If you see a seller constantly doing this, then report them, but it isn't worth it for Fred in a shed selling one loco.
