Dealers fitting DCC Decoders

Hi All,

I have just talked the wife into buying the Bachmann 32-356 Standard 4MT Tank, weathered for me for Xmas. She would rather purchase it pre-fitted with a Lenz Gold decoder. (I suspect it's so I can't have it before Xmas).

Does anyone have any suggestions of dealers who may carry this out to a decent standard at a reasonable price?

I understand that the model is DCC ready, so should facilitate some ease of fitting.

I would appreciate any recommendations or otherwise.

Regards Eddie.

Funny that you should be asking that as I would like to know that also. I have just come back from the Bachmann dcc demo at Model Zone in Holborn and boy are Bachmann aggressive. Like when asking the simple, civil question, why don't you fit some of your locos pre-chipped, got barked back at "why should we". Erh, well, perhaps because I am the customer, I would pay extra for a pre-chipped loco and you are the ones trying to break into the bottom end of the dcc market. I thought the bloke was going to deck me. Bachmann say this will NEVER happen but then dcc will NEVER take off big time until locos are pre-chipped. It seems on the one hand Bachmann are breaking into dcc with their system and making locos dcc ready but according to their website wont accept any chipped locos for repair. A bit of double standards I think.

The simple answer is they already do. There's a class 25 diesel and a couple of 0-4-0T locos available in digital starter sets. OK, so they're only in sets, and the range is *very* limited, but it strikes me that they've missed an opportunity to tell tell you.

Just to clarify: The customer service or lack of, is what I dislike. Not if or not they chip Locos Rob

So you base your future modelling purchases on one version of one side of a discussion ?

I agree absolutely, and as a result I sent a copy of the posting from Kevin to Bachmann for them to consider. I don't expect a detailed response but have been told that the matter will be investigated.
