At the end of 1995, soon after the train was released, Jouef found themselves in financial difficulty and were taken over by Rivarossi who also owned Lima. Lima had planned their own model of Eurostar in 1995 but by the 1996 Trade Toy Fair it was still in mock-up form. It was therefore decided to add the Jouef model to the Lima range and re- release it in the Autumn of 1996. It is interesting to note that the model that emerged was now made in France and a number of improvements had been incorporated. These included improved paintwork, more printed detail on the coaches and a bolder Eurostar logo. These, however, were not bought by Hornby.
