Motorcyclist Death in Lubbock TX

I'll have to find out if I can hire them to take the s***head who has to go to work at 3:30 AM on a Harley with straight pipes.

Isn't it just easier to get his license number and file a complaint with the local PD?

Aw, c'mon y'all. There is no more quinessentially, exclusively AMERICAN sound in all the world than a Harley with straight pipes. Even if I get blasted awake at 3 AM by a Harley, it's still music.

You know they do sound great, but they don't sound any better without the stock muffler. In fact I think they sound better with a muffler that allows a low rumble at idle. No excuse for having a straignt pipe.

I like the sound of a fog horn and I would like to mount it on my truck. It would be fun to drive up behind a Harley and give em a blast.

Not as wild as a gentleman that has the train horns on his GL1200...they poke THROUGH the windshield/fairing. Compressor and air tank in the saddle bags. 8^) Nothing as fun as pulling up behind a LLB moron and hitting the horns.

You've really got to hand it to Harley and their incredibly effective marketing campaigns over the last few years (decades?), as they've tried to reinvent themselves.

Bill's statement really does show just _how_ effective it has been.

As for music, I'm really fond of the noise a prop makes as it cuts through the air to be nice. I don't care quite so much for the noise of the glow engine powering it, or the noisy gearbox for the electric powering it, but I don't really mind them either. But what's really a nice sound is the sound of a glider zipping past you at a high rate of speed ... whoosh!

| No harley owner rides in a bubble.

That is so not true.

Though he may not qualify as an owner, only as a rider ... dunno.

OB R/C:

Do people generally think that heatsinks are helpful on speed 400 motors on planes? They certainly seem to sell a lot, but they're relatively heavy, and even though the motors often get almost too hot to touch, I wonder if the extra weight makes it not worth it.

From Doug M.:

Even sweeter is the exhaust 'talk' of a couple of big radials loping along just above flight idle.

No. Go up about 60% on gear ratio (i.e from 3:1 to 5:1) or drop the prop size 20% and run off 10 cells or 3s LIPO. About 30% more power OUT at less current and less heat.

Now that really does make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. Some guy with a pony tail (or long straggly hair) complete with long, straggly beard blatting around on a Harley is not in the same league. Why do Harley riders always look such a joke ?

For the same reason they wanna run with a straight pipe. They're looking for attention.

If you like tractor noises. Al that spitting and farting and all.

Most of them are corporate bad guy wanna be's. I knew one that even had a clip on pony tail so he wouldn't be laughed out of the ride!

Music? 916/996/998 with Termignonis. Next best, Aprilia RSV. THAT'S how twins should sound.

I prefer a Vulcan mini gun neatly tucked inside a side car. Wired of course to the horn button! :)

LOL, just when you think you have heard/seen it all before. Clip on pony tail... sheesh >:-)

Crap bikes! 8^) The MV Agusta Brutal sounds far better. That or the Moto Guzzi v8 Gp bike from the late 50's...talk about a shiver down your spine. All from a 4s 500cc V8 that was narrower than the competitions bikes. 8 into 8 pipes. Only thing better is a 12 into 12 on a Damiler or Rolls engine.

If you gentlemen will excuse me I need a little "Me" time to get a hold of myself. ;^) Well it's that or tinker with the DR370 ratbike.

What makes you think it would be that cop to cite him? That isn't the only cop on the planet. If you include in the complain that the one you talked to didn't do anything about it they will probably send someone else.

Then you sue for harrasment and get monitary reward. The city and the Police Deptarments hate bad press. Notice,..I work for a TV station?
