WD40 fix one

I am the person with the 1998 Volkswagen beetle with the sized door locks. The wd40 freed up the passenger door. sprayed it and had to use a pliers to turn the lock back a forth. The driver door I have found that the key will not go in all the way, must have something inside it obstructing it. I now have to remove the lock cylinder and take it to a locksmith. I am told that the lock cylinder can be removed without having to remove the door panel.



Does anyone have info on removing the lock cylinder on this vehicle.

That I know nothing for sure, but I would guess(and only guess)that there is a spring clip holding the handle assembly on the door, and that it can possibly be accessed at the rear inside edge of the door-probably two or three screws-As for undoing the linkage-I have no clue.

There is a torx screw on the edge of the door in line with the handle. This screw might be under a plastic snap on cover.

Since you are taking one cylinder to the lock shop, you might as well take both as the locksmith can clean up a lot of the crud that you only broke loose but the crud is still there.

Your locksmith might be willing to remove these for you if you prefer.
