Here is a formula for modelling wax from 1895:

Best yellow wax....................................50 parts Venice turpentine....................................7 parts Lard.....................................................3 1/4 parts Bole, elutriated......................................36 parts

Mix, and knead thoroughly.

This one is from 1932:

Beeswax...............................4 oz. Olive oil.................................1 oz. Sifted starch..........................4 oz.

Melt together the wax and oil, add the starch and work it into the liquid until the whole takes on a doughlike consistency, allow to cool.
