OT Another republican heard from

Who can identify the author of this particular comment:

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are ... a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid ."

Eisenhower, but over estimated the intelligence of the American voter. The Republicans are going to be around for a long time.

They're not abolishing it, they're privatizing it! If they're stupid, they're stupid all the way to the bank. The rank and file is another matter, although they are more ignorant and manipulated than stupid.

The Republicans are going to be around for a long time.

That is until the Whigs come back to reassert themselves. Ever since Millard Fillmore they have been laying low just waiting to once again rise to power.

After all without the leadership of the Whigs, California might have never become a state. He also sent off Perry to open Japan to trade.

Gunner; don't you realize that they are returning to their roots. Look at the judges that they are blocking, soon we will see Democratic members of Congress being sworn into the KKK, like President Harding was.

What, has David Dukes changed parties again?

Interesting point indeed. And deadly accurate. Of course its noted that Old Byrd..the main man of the Democratic party was a Grand Kleagle in the KKK. And of course, its been the Democrats who have promoted such odious racist legislation for so many years.

What other group has been actively promoted a political agenda that caused so many blacks to HAVE to depend on their Democrat Massa's?

And of course it was the Republicans, from Lincoln forward who were the Civil Rights leaders, while the Dems were first and formost, bigoted racists of the worst kind.

No longer than the house stands.

There is an old saying, attributed to various ethnic groups, "don't spit in the soup, we all gotta eat.

A review of the government's own socio-economic data such as the GINI index and poverty rates shows that control of the real wealth is becoming concentrated in an every smaller fraction of the population. This concentration has been a leading indicator if not a precursor for every economic crash/panic back to the civil war and currently the concentration is significantly higher than in 1929.

As a follow-on, it is by no means clear to me that there has been

**ANY** increase in real wealth, as most people understand it.

As far as it can be determined, the claimed corporate earnings are increasingly based on the cobwebs and moonbeams of "mark to myth" derivatives, off-shore special purpose entities, tax evasion schemes, and unloading their pension obligations and other debt onto the American taxpayers and/or stiffing their creditors and retirees.

It was the Louisiana Governor election in 1992 (iirc), when the popular bumper sticker was "Vote for the Crook, it is important." Probably the only time the Republican State organization with held support for the "Republicans" candidate, David Duke in this case. (Only the left-liberal Democrats would consider David Duke a "typical republican".) Oh, and the Democrat candidate, he really was a crook. With a conviction for corruption while in office. Given the choice between a corrupt politician and a racist, even the Cajun state went with the crook.

The ones I saw read

Vote for the lizard instead of the wizard -- its important.

Buzz was that the "people" could then impeach the lizard after the election.
