OT: Rummy's brilliant idea

either that or google screwed up. It's Tuesday the 29th here now .. first time I've been able to read this thread. Got "URL not available" or some such crap for several days when double-clicking the subject line. One of these days my drive will come then OS/2 will go onto the server then we'll have reeal news and mail here again. Lemme tell ya, life's a bitch when you let capitalist stooges run your utilities.

As to the answer, I posted one : I've written at great length with documents, Library of Congress book numbers, names, dates, places and a complete bibliography. Many many times. If you google you should be able to find the info. Try 'Bernard Fall' as a keyword. It's not worth doing again - I have other stuff to do tonight. Besides that, the only thing that happens when I engage you in that discussion is that you disappear for a while when faced with facts. You come up with plenty of emotional b.s. but never any refutation for the documented facts of history. It's not really worthwhile to go thru it again. You just get quiet for a bit then come back a month later with the exact same tired old nonsense. You don't want to believe the truth because it conflicts with your own self-image. Oh well.

The truly funny part about this is that you and the rest of the Rambo wannabes all use the same tactic - "What do YOU know about it ? Where were YOU in 1967 ?"

Funny that y'all think that "being there" is a prime requisite for authority in the case of Vietnam but if Floyd says "I LIVE in Barrow" that means nothing. When I say "I live in Huzhou" it means nothing. Personal experience is only credible when it supports YOUR views, I take it ?

Dog gone Glenn, I was about to mention SS. It's the "mother or all trust funds". What a scam!!!

Now, now Glenn, you're getting too involved here. I think there's a problem when one points out mistakes made to show the whole idea was wrong. Mistakes were and are being made for sure but it doesn't mean the direction taken was a mistake. Look at WWII or better yet the civil war, what a mess at times, but the end result was something good. Well, except for maybe the civil war.

I forgot to mention that I agree with you. The end of war is when the other side gives up or enough of the other side decides to supress those who haven't given up to the point they are insignificant.

This has not yet happened in Iraq but I imagine will do so within the next year.

You are certainly very optimistic, "next year" and all will be well??? We have a better model to compare the war in Iraq to, Palestine. The Palestinians have been fighting the invasion of their country for well over 50 years. They have lost every battle and yet they continue to fight. The fighters have nearly universal support among their population. There is no reason to doubt that they will fight for another

50 years if that is necessary.

Israel is far more brutal and thuggish than we will ever be. For Israel genocide, starvation, assassination, and torture are standard practices of war. It has not worked for Israel. I hope that we do not become like Israel, but even if we do, our prospects in Iraq look grim.

Pete.

You could also look at Ireland. They fought the british for hundreds of years and the PIRA is still fighting for Northern Ireland. People gat real upset when their homeland is invaded for whatever reason. How long would YOU fight if the Russians invaded the US? Ever see 'Red Dawn'?
