Coolant Pump

I have just acquired an old mains operated shower pump - would it be any good as a coolant pump for a lathe? Does coolant attack plastics/rubber pump bearings etc?

Yikes!

Swarf will.

My workshop is in a cellar that is below drain level; I have used a shower pump to pump the waste water from my workshop sink up to the drain. The pump body is plastic; it has survived all that I have thrown at it for several years now (including paintbrush cleaner, swarf, etc.) with no apparent sign of any problems.

Regards, Tony

Thanks Tony - since the pump was effectively free I have nothing to loose - so I'll give it a go.
