G Scale Loco Plans

Aug 28, 2005 5 Replies

I have just taken the first steps in building a garden railway, which I have wanted to do for some time. It will be in "G" scale using LGB track (because I've just bought some secondhand). This is 45mm track (like guage 1 size) but modeled on narrow guage track -so much chunkier than traditional guage 1 track. It's main advantage, for me, is that being narrow guage the track radius can be quite small allowing for a continious track in quite a confined space.

I would like to run steam loco's on it, and there are quite a few available commercially -but I'd like to build my own (because I'm a cheapskate). Does anyone know of any plans in this guage?

Regards

A Google search on the exact phrase "G scale" brings up 197,000 hits! But to make life easier the first hit is

A very good site, but like all the others I have found nothing on building suitable steam loco's. Someone must build thier own steam loco's to run on this guage -I just haven't found them.

Thanks, it seems to confirm what I had found "as far as I know there are no G scale plans..." I'll just keep looking, or maybe go it alone and try to design something.
