I need to import some sheet formats coming from Catia 4. The supplier asked if IGES is what I want and, knowing no better, I said; sure. Wondering if anyone that's been there, done that might know any better or have any tips to enhance the chances. I'm using WF with no additional extensions.

What I've done is to use as much of the imported format as I can ~ border, portions of the title block like a company name and graphic and other standard information like tolerance block, proprietary info warning and headers of cells ~ and junk anything that should be variable. Sometimes I'll delete old table borders, just leaving text.
Then the fun part, recreating the tables to hold the variable information which got lost in translation. It often takes three or four separate tables to get the structure to match and lots of fiddling with column and row sizes. Then populating the tables with the note parameters like &todays_date, &sheet_number and other user defined parameters to capture part numbers, and names of modeller, checker, document control group, etc. And finally, recreating the BOM.
It might be possible to just use the structure that's given and the old table geometry, just putting the note parameters on top of it as you place any note. But, if you want to move anything, nothing is anchoring such notes. With a table, the note paramters move with it. They and their contents can also be saved for reuse. And table cells take care of formatting like how the text is placed and justified in the cell.

Many thanks, David. It's just for a handful of small assy drawings and I'm not too worried about the more involved entities (tables, symbols, etc.). I've never recieved 2D from them and am just hoping to avoid rebuilding the entire format; border, title block, logo, etc. from scratch if it comes across as garbled as some of the IGES translated model geometry I've gotten. Guess I'll find out next week. 8~)

I can't tell you all the button pushes in Wildfire, but you definitely have to create a new format and use the iges data as 'Insert>Data from file' type of data. Everything in the file can be placed (possibly scaled) as is. Alter/edit from there. Best wishes for a happy, fruitful Monday.
