Hi all, I built a simple PVC pipe launch pad last spring for low-power rockets but there is a Richter Recker and eventually other mid power/larger rockets in the near future for me. Are there any online plans for constructing a good mid-power launchpad and simple launch controller? Any advice about these projects is greatly appreciated. Thanks, SAB

As for a controller, I currently use the Pratt Hobbies "Sure-Fire II" and highly recommend it! It has a built-in rechargeable 12v battery, relay operation, audio continuity check, voltage meter and 50 feet of cord (longer cord optional) all in one very convenient package.

Prior to purchasing the Sure-Fire, I was using a simple home-built launcher. I don't have any pics or plans available, but it was basically just 8 C-batteries in a plastic "electronics kit" box, with a locking safe/arm switch and a push button. No continuity check. No relay either, so the cord had to be kept pretty short, only about 30 feet, and I wouldn't recommend it for high current applications such as large clusters.
Prior to _that_, I was really low tech. I just had a doorbell mounted on a board, connected to 50ft of extension cord at one end and a couple of jumper cable clips at the other. Just hooked it up to the battery in my car.
