Rocket Challenge: Response from Tide

Nov 13, 2003 15 Replies

I e-mailed Tide, and here's the response I got!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ah--our Tide commercials did their job!

Thanks for the great comment. Rocket Challenge is a wonderful show and we appreciate you letting us know it's important to you.

Keep singing!

BTW: I do the grocery shopping, and we have a new box of Tide. On the other hand, I still can't get the d****** song out of my head. Where's my bad '80s music CD? At least it will be a different earworm....

(Gotcha!!!)

It's a world of laughter A world of tears It's a world of hopes And a world of fears There's so much that we share That it's time we're aware It's a small world after all

There is just one moon And one golden sun And a smile means Friendship to ev'ryone Though the mountains divide And the oceans are wide It's a small world after all

It's a small world after all It's a small world after all It's a small world after all It's a small, small world

(OK...now just *try* to get that one out of your head without the use of an icepick!)

You suck. I had avoided Disneyland for years just to kill that and now you did it. I can never post to rmr again!

this is the song that never ends.....

I am 'enry the eighth I am.......

Hey, I like those songs! It would be a welcome change.

Nothing seems to work. Not "Venus" by Bananarama. Not "Does Your Mother Know" by ABBA. Not "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon. Not "Money" by Pink Floyd. Not even "Broken Glass" by Anne Lenox.

In an act of desperation, I tried my entire Dr. Demento collection - 6 CDs, with Lodon Wainwright III's "Dead Skunk" played three times.

No luck.

Finally got rid of it. Unfortunately, it's not been replaced by music. Now, I have a Moluccan cockatoo bray running through my head.

Thankfully, I made a tape of Rocket Challenge. Maybe if I play the Tide commercial enough....

And yes, I play bass. Pretty obvious from the earworm songs.

How about "Fish heads, fish heads".... or Plastic Jesus? ;-)

Where does the term aleph null come from?

And is it aliph null?

Tried that one - it's on one of the Demento CDs.

I can't say I know that one.

Finally the cockatoo braying went away. He bit me on my index finger of my right hand (not good - I play bass) and the pain was such that all the earworms are gone.

Y'notice that everything keeps getting worse? I've decided I'll keep the finger pain. If I complain about it, I'll torque and orc or something worse.

Zooty

Oh gosh. That is funny.

It's like the guy on Leno last night:

"The computer locked up while I was playing Tetris." "That's not Tetris! That's the disk defragmenter!"

Aleph null is the first cardinality of infinity. The cardinality of a set is its numeric or "countable" value. An example; the cardinality of your fingers is equal to 8 (the other two digits are *thumbs*). It comes from the mathematician Gregor Cantor. See:

These are both excellent. ;-)

One of the publications

sells is "100 Ways to save money on model rocket building" by BJ Humpheries (deceased) and has a plan from a kid who is now a famous rocketeer, "B Bruce".

The plan is titled Aliph Null. I cant help thinking it was a typo by the author.

I just realized that I need to teach this song to my best friend's 8 year old.

It will introduce him to the concept of infinity. He will enjoy this song and teach many, many people about the concept of infinity.

Imagine a type of number set Gimmel such that:

Gimmel null bottles of beer on the wall Gimmel null bottles of beer. Take one down, pass it around Gimmel null plus one bottles of beer on the wall....

It's been said that no one has ever invented a mathematical concept that someone hasn't eventually found a use for. Let's see them try with this one. We're talking absolutely frigging useless.

I wonder what the properties are of such a set....

(Beth didn't have two syllables, so I went with the next letter I remembered from the Hebrew alephbeth.)
