Long story (covered fully on our yahooGroup). The short version is a combination of the Ren-Faire accompanied by a new park Superintendent who is trying to find all the paperwork on all the activities going on in the park. One bit of paperwork is not something we ever had and may not have been in writing at all - something from the US Army Corps of Engineers that says our activity is OK. The previous park superintendent insists that that permission was given (and thinks it was in writing), but he is retired and folks are simultaneously looking for the old files and requesting new persmission.

The Ren-Faire was "flowed down" onto the park by a County Supervisor. They have all been working intensely to make the Faire happen (legally) and now that that is over they can turn their attention to other activities and build their new files.

We supplied copies of all our permits and the insurance papers - which named the US Army Corps of Enigneers 9because the previous Superintendent talked to them and they said something to the effect of "OK as long as you insure us using this wording". We did and it was OK for many years.

It will all work out - hopefully soon.

On the plus side, the Ren-Faire bulldozed ALL the brush from the extended recovery area. It was used for parking. Parking = Revenue.

Sounds like a "codify everything" issue and also an attempt to go beyond traditional "substantial compliance" into a zero tolerance, strict compliance zone.

Consider how many activities will be blown out by this approach.

This should make their jobs a whole lot easier (the prime directive) while they "tolerate" (cause) the loss of liberty of many other people.

Nothing is more important than "the files", right?

We updated the website again yesterday.

I remain curious if every other group activity is going to be put under the microscope like our acitivity.

Dog Shows.

Religious festivals.

Bike-A-Thons.

Lineman Rodeo.
