Video Camera/transmitter on ebay

It's not quite the same. Stealing causes harm to the victim of the theft, regardless of whether anyone "knows" about it. Operating a transmitter on an improper frequency in a remote area does no harm, even if it is still technically illegal.

ISTR that a section of "Part 15" of the FCC rules provides that one may make any unlicensed transmission below a certain power level (100 mw?) as long as it does not cause interference to any licensed services. Things like FM "wireless microphones" and toy walkie-talkies operate under this section.

(Part 15 is the rules regarding what radio emissions are permitted from unlicensed sources... other sections deal with incidental emissions from TV sets, computers, etc...)

That is why I suggested that the frequency be checked. There are certain frequencies that are permitted for low power one way transmissions. However, if it is not in one of those frequencies, it is illegal.

100mW does not sound like much, but I have built and used a 200mW code transmitter and talked from Colorado Springs, CO, to Huston, TX for about 20 minutes. The frequency does matter a great deal.

I disagree.

Laws are created by man and are theirfore prone to being flawed.

IF they made having books illegal tommorrow would I then be a bad person for hiding mine ?

Criminal yes a bad person no.

same thing.

I personally have a problem with anyone telling me what I can and can not do with the energy flowing throughout the universe that no one can claim ownership of.

I see the need > > This is true.

I never said it was not illegal, just that it was not in the same category as "real" crimes that cause actual harm. Too many laws make crimes of things that are harmless. As a rocket hobbyist you should be all too well aware of that by now!

I would love to see the video. Can you upload it to the web?

Looks neat. I have a few PC boards laying around. If I had the dimensions looks like a piece of cake to etch one myself....

correct IE this is a law to be ignored since it is a nonsensical law.

Have you seen these video clips yet?

Are you sure it is nonsensical and harmless? I would like to see your data on the transmitter in question. Does it transmit on the frequency it claims? What is it's true output power? Does it cause interference with other devices on similar frequencies? All of these things would be documented if it had a valid FCC registration ID, which it does not. I'm serious, I'd like to know.

Or are you just spouting off because you don't want to be bothered by such technicalities?

Do you even KNOW what law you're call> correct IE this is a law to be ignored since it is a nonsensical law. >

Chris,

Would you still feel that way if the video signal interfered with your RC plane/glider and caused it to wreck?

Just wondering...

I wonder how the signal might affect nearby electronics such as altimeters, igniters, etc. Or R/C gear on someone else's rocket at a group launch?

Too bad they don't have them in QT format.

I am spouting off.

when something is weak enough that I can not get a decent signal from one room to the next in my house and I have to use special antenna's just to get something from a rocket I call that inconsequencial low power and NOT of concern to the FCC which should not have the kind of power they do anyway.

Enough said ?

irrelevant questions since it does not. it is not even on the same band.

we are talking megahertz (rc planes) verse GIGA Hertz.

Might as well be apples and oranges.

too bad they have them in ANY of those format all proprietary and not something standard like mpg

Well I got the camera today. Having a little trouble with the signal blocked by myself with receiver 4 ft. away. Also won auction for video camera to use for recording. Maybe it will fly this year.
