Aeroflot question

Hi

I got me a model of a Aerofolot cargo plane, but unfortunately the decals stink all the way to hell and back. Absolutely unusable. And that's after I would have gotten rid of the yellowing.

Now they're not too complex, so I wanna use this "opportunity" to venture into the world of home made decals. In order to do that, I need to recreate the word Aeroflot, as it is printed on Aeroflot planes. See the image here:

Can anyone tell me which font this is, and where it or something very similar is available?

TIA

Beats me, but given that you're going to be doing some decal design anyway, why no do the text as graphics as well? A nicely flat image can be found on aeroflot's own website, for example at the link below.

Do you mean in Cyrillic letters? I've seen a way you're supposed to be able to set up the keyboard to do so, but I've never done it.

I don't think a regular cyrillic font will do. I'm no expert, but the second letter doesn't look like it's a regular in cyrillic

There's a nice vector illustration of that logo here:

you'll need something like adobe illustrator or the excellent (and freeware) the Gimp (

) to open it, but being a vector graphic it will be infinitely scaleable and editable without loss of quality. That's a nice site for all sorts of logos, handy for name placards to go with a model for example. As for the font, it's unlikely that you'll find it freely available. It's probably a commercial Cyrillic font and wouldn't be cheap - far more than a set of decals from one of the specialist companies. Might be worth asking around the graphic design and font newsgroups.

Indeed it is. It stands for the 'eh' sound.
