Derek Robinson's "Kramer's War" used the same subject, and detailed the compromises made by the Islanders to get through the war. H.M. Government's having forgotten to evacuate the Islanders in time had a role in the mutual willingness to bury it all after the war. Robinson tends to sympathize with the realists trying to keep people alive and fed.
