(OT, sorta...) More eBay Tomfoolery

I'm poking around for a Trumpeter Corsair and I find this:

Now, this is the most egregious example I've found but what's with the shipping price? From Canada? Another seller wanted $20USD to ship from Ottawa plus compulsory insurance, driving the shipping near $24USD. I posed the question to the seller that yet another auction was going on and that kit was in Hong Kong and cost $25USD to ship from there. He responded that he was a Canadian seller and could be trusted. Absolutely nothing about the shipping, just that I can trust him? Because he's Canadian? Oh, wait a second - yet another e-mail from an online bank arrived - I have to update my information again! Oh, my flight's almost ready - I have to go to Ethiopia to get my $10,000,000.00 for helping that poor, jailed man... ;-) The guy in the above-listed auction even pre-paints the kit; I wonder how much that influences his shipping costs... Why can't they just leave well enough alone and put a price and reasonable shipping on an item? I don't need 'value added' model kits. Some folks should just stay out of retail... eBay's turned into a real joke.

Either way, I don't care, if I don't like the terms, I can usually find another item with a little searching. Those that "win" such items are welcome to the outcome. :-)

As far as ebay being a joke - what has changed recently? Stupid people have been seperated from their valuables for a long time now...

Dude!! The problem is UPS, they suck whales thru their prices in Canada. Ask for a Canada Post price, or Fedex Ground. I refuse to us UPS. To ship a diecast to US in Canadian prices, CanadaPost 12.90, Fedex Ground 12.50, and UPS ?? 35.00 WTF!! It certainly does not help this guy selling his models, but shipping from Canada seem to be a bundle compare to shipping US to US. Heck it is cheaper to send from Buffalo.

Why would the Ethiopians want to fight in Iraq? Aren't they still busy at home?

we should make them fight, because it will get rid of the scammers. only they should be sent.

Visit your local (?) Hobby Lobby. Ours has the HobbyCraft and the Trumpeter issues. The Trump is almost $10 cheaper :-)

Tired of paying all those listing fees on EBay? and then paying a percentage at the end? and if your model does not sell you still have to pay the listing fee?

At ModelersSwapmeet you just pay a monthly fee of $15.00. You get a vendor table and you can sell up to 50 models a month with photos. With fewer models for sale the price even gets less expensive.

With feedback this is a safe way to sell and meet with the modeling community. You can even sell WWII German subjects without getting the product pulled.

Any type of model can be sold here:

? Plastic

? Wood

? Resin

? Radio control all types

? Model railroad

If it is a model, you can sell it here without the hassles in a very easy and safe environment.

I hate to be the devils advocate here, but $20US to ship from Canada to teh States is probably pretty close. I just traded a Trump 1/32 F-105D to a guy in Quebec, I'm in Virginia, and it was $21US to ship it, and Quebec is one of the closer Canadian provinces to Virginia. Those big boxes push the package from the small parcel to big parcel category.

What got me on this auction was the pre-painted parts, plus all his terms and conditions of sale, my car loan has fewer qualifiers than this.
