I have decided that calling you names is not productive. You did get my goat for a while, but I am over it.
I would suggest you drop the "vesticles" name calling, which you started. Every time you use that you make your own stature smaller, and smaller, and smaller. ......
Keep that up and you will turn into a Lilliputian.
As best as I can recall all the mean stuff in this thread comes from your buddies WmB, Eyeball, Ron, Woodier, Sam, Ken, Nacht, etc. If you are unhappy what you read here, get on their cases, not mine.
For the life of me I cannot fathom why my comments that Bush performed miserably in the debate should bother anyone here. Facts is facts. The debate just confirmed what we already know, Bush is a poor President who will lead us all to perdition if he gets another four years.
First off these guys are not my "buddies".They are online acquaintances but in most cases they are decent guys who come here for hobby related discussion.
Not always, just in your opinion.
The debate has nothing to do with Presidential performance. It might be an indicator, but it is not "proof".
You are the person bringing a majority of the off topic political bullshit to this newsgroup. My political views are not relevant ot this newsgroup, BUT since you asked I will let you know..Locally my vote will be split about
40/40/20 between Democrats/Republicans/Independents. Federal Election-wise I'll go with Bush for a couple of reasons. I do not consider Bush the best candidate ever for the job but Kerry hasn't shown me anything for him to be proud of either. Bush has a little bit of seasoning and needs to change some of his advisors. Kerry hasn't shown me anything except to bring up his "war record". His actions after he got home from SEA were dispicable. He won't discuss his Senate record,. He won't provide anything in the way of his agenda except "I have a plan". I don't believe Kerry's "War Record" has been completely revealed. Bush was in the Air National Guard, served his time and got out. Enough of this slamming "Bush was AWOL" garbage some of your associates have put out. Kerry has been a Teddy K student for too long. I pay enough taxes, it is my belief that Kerry will raise them. I don't want a President who treats public servants/employees, especially Secret Service people like crap. Same reason Hillary won't get my vote next time. People who raise political agenda bullshit in a newsgroup where I come to relax piss me off and drive me away from their chosen hero. Lastly this is an INTERNATIONAL modeling newsgroup, not Poly Sci 101, American Political games. The political ranting and raving over this and other elections is an embarrassment. My apologies to the non-US readers who end up seeing most of this crap.
Rick Clark My absentee ballot goes in next week. MFE
The really cool part is that I blocked him as a waste of bandwidth ages ago.I only see the retorts, but sometimes they are the best laugh I have all day lol
Same here.....he's been in my killfile since about February, 2001 but if enough of his drivel is reposted, I'll poke back.....can't have him think I've come to accept him now, can I?
Fair enough. The discussion bar has been raised way beyond what the other guys have been dishing out. Thanks Rick. Sorry about associating you with the other people.
Think positive. Only 30 more days of this to endure. Then WE decide what is BS and what is not. After that I will trouble you no more; maybe even build a model (or get back to the 5 unfinished cardstock models on my workbench). I have a really nice Halinski USS Gambier Bay in 1/200th that needs some TLC.
Not really. You largely limit yourself to emotional opinions with no real objective merit.
Funny, that was my impression of two terms of Clinton. This is largely why I voted in opposition to his pet Gore.
This must be a surprise to you, but there are many people around the world who want to kill you (any American). They are called terrorists.
They have chosen to attack Americans without legitimate cause and certainly without any distinction. My own opinion is that Beslan was just a rehersal for the main event here. The vast majority of these people have had zero experience with Americans to make them want to kill us, it is something they are told by others in most cases.
Combativeness is one of the few traits of Mr. Bush worth appreciation.
Horsecrap. Jsut because they are allowed their opinion, does not mean millions of other Americans are denied theirs. The reality is that the loudmouth girls spouted off, PUBLICALLY USING THIER PUBLIC STATUS to do it. Millions of regular Americans, including many in uniform or with family members in uniform, chose to privately and personally express their disagreement by not buying D. Chick music.
Just because they have an opinion, does not mean the rest of us must agree with it.
What I am surprised is Vess gave prominence to the EP-3 incident which I tought most Americans had forgotten as an insignificant event. What I am even more surprised is that Vess said
watching how he handled
which was exactly what I said at that time. BW then seemed determined to get into a fight to make himself appear a resolute warrior not afraid to exercise American superiority, democracy or something hashed like that. And by god Dubya was going to invent one if that was what it took. I was really worried that he would pick a fight with China, not a shooting war per se, but a fight where he could say all sorts of things about fighting the evil empire, pinko commies or something inane like that.
Phew 911 happened. The US will be distracted for years in that quagmire of Al Queda, Afghnaistan, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia and anything that looks like a Muslim. China will be left alone to develop peacefully for at least a decade. By then China will have caught up with modernization and perhaps even pull ahead. The momentum will be unstoppable.
You can associate me with the other guys, I may go to the Testpost Clubhouse and have a drink with them. What you should not do is issue blanket indictments on everyone who disagrees with you. What they should do is realize that most commentary to you needs to be reduced to a normal level or dismissed totally.
Now! Are we ready for some "Let's split this group" or "Your mother wears Cochran jump boots vs Brown Shoe Company rejects" or "1/72nd scale operating landing gear on 1/76 scale C-5 injection molded kits sold only in Chicago in the last century (last half)" ????
Where is that darned Mon-Key when you really need him?
Rick Clark MFE Rama Lama Dingh Alingh Midwest Portable Temple, soon to be relocated to Northern Iowa. Mentioned in Dispatches N1535Z Never pulled A Lert in my life!
Ouch. I hope (for your sake) the same appreciation does not apply to your love life.
I don't see any value to combativeness, and by that I'm not trying to define the term out from under you. This is about being resolute, being right, and defending ourselves and what passes for civilization as a whole. This sometimes requires combat, but not a relish for it.
Whatever sins and sleights and imperialist mumbo-jumbo are real or imagined, it cannot be the slightest justification for the terrorist attacks that have gone on now for decades, and the fact that it finally waxed domestic a few years ago does not change the tenor of what has been going on. Set aside the notion of radical Islam (many of the original Palestinian terrorists were secular radical socialists), set aside the residue of the Cold War (overt Soviet support set up a lot of the contention in the region), set aside Zionism (the Iran-Iraq war and its fall-out has caused at least as much misery in the region as all the Israeli-Arab conflicts put together). There is an inherent combativeness in that region of the world, because the people cannot conceive of working together. They demonize anyone they see as not of their own ken, and, as bad, they see themselves as demonized by their demons. In this context, in this country, Bush's combativeness is not a plus. We don't need to go there.
