spitfire colors

Jan 20, 2005 3 Replies

Greetings all. I am working on a Hasegawa 1/48 Spitfire, and the instructions call for "Middle Stone" and "Dark Earth" for the camo. I wish to stay with Model Master Acryl paint, but when I look at the different colors, I get confused trying to match them up. Can anyone provide a MM Acryl color that closely matches the desired "middle stone" and "dark earth?"

Thanks in advance for the help.

Sean

I'm pretty sure both Middle Stone and Dark Earth are in the Model Master line; at least they are in the enamels. In the enamel range, Middle Stone is listed as a British color, while Dark Earth is listed as ANA 617 Dark Earth (an American color but very close to the British shade). If you have access to Polly Scale paints, they do good versions of both colors. HTH.

Pip Moss I used to feel cheap 'cause I had no signature.
