Where did the SPAM go?

Was amazed that all of those sleazy Chinese ads for knock off watches, purses and sneakers had vanished overnight.

Not sure who did it but we who prefer modeling items owe them a debt of gratitude!

it was all from google-groups, the lowest of the sleazeball jerks. apparently their bottom line was threatened by people being sick of all the garbage google allowed. it may not last, they are still sleazeballs.

It is still with us, only on other groups. They seem to be rotating through the Usenet groups- hit one for awhile, then on to another. Maybe they get less heat that way.

BTW, there are some people who don't know how to access Usenet any other way than GG.

I have a baby on the way and am only a casual user. Google's free access makes perfect sense to me. And spammers come from many places, not just google.

all true, but google goes above and beyond. they also would be easiest to self correct.

I find an awful lot of the folks who don't complain about the price of internet access are ones who use work accounts. Others, it is a way to brag, hey, look at me, I'm rich and don't have to worry about money. Some of us are not so fortunate.

I've gone back to using my ISP's Usenet server. They provide the server, but no support. But I find GG prone to the same problems I was having with the ISP's server anyway :-( But I know that a lot of folks have had their ISPs drop Usenet, so they are forced to either buy paid Newsgroup access or else use a web portal like GG.

I tried some of the free Usenet servers. Never found one I really thought was any good.
