Was trying to figure out how to set the date format in the revision table to read y/m/d after much searching in SW found out that it is actually set by the windows regional settings. Seems to me a bit odd that you are not able to set this from within SW.

I agree. What's worse is that if you change your date format in Windows, any other user with default settings in windows will open you file and have screwed up formatting. So, changing the date format at all may be a bad idea.
Myself, I just type the date into a text field instead of a date field. I have too many foramttting standards to comply with to bother changing a windows setting every time.
