Dimensioning, line selection question

I am having trouble selecting lines in a drawing when dimensioning. When I 'hover" over a line with the mouse, I don't get any graphical feedback from SolidWorks. I am never really sure if I am selecting the line. This is very frustrating on long parts on a D size sheet. I select the first line then scroll to the opposite side of the sheet and try to select the 2nd line. When I miss the line I have to reselect the line and scroll back to the other side of the sheet and try again. Sometimes I have to go through this process 3-4 times.

Any suggests? Have I "clicked" a setting incorrectly? Have suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Monty

Mony, Not sure what the problem with lack of feedback but it does sound like a mouse and/or graphics card issue.

Anyway, here is a tip for working with long disproportionate parts. Zoom into one end, hit space bar and name the view (left end). Then zoom into opposite end, hit space bar and name the view (right end). Now select the "Smart Dimension" tool, hit space bar select view name, then select edge, next hit space bar to get toview of other end to complete your dimension. Using view names is the same as any zoom or pan command, they are considered "intterupts".

Of course, SW should implement the same "split window" capability for drawings that it has for model mode.

trouble selecting lines in a drawing when dimensioning.

When I refer to feed back, I would like the line color to change. If the line changed color, I would be sure I am picking it.

Check Tools-Options-Display/Selection to see if your Dynamic Highlight

off at random for us, although it hasn't done that in quite some time. If this option is checked and the drawing you're working on is a large file, sometimes drawings are just SO PAINFULLY SLOW that you have to hover your mouse over the line for a few seconds before it will change colors. Hope this helps.
