Print Line Weights

Hi,

When I print out SW2006 drawings to my HP Designjet 450C, the lines are all the same thickness regardless of my settings in the print dialog box. The lines all show the same thickness when I do a print preview. Has anyone here experienced the same difficulties?

Thanks,

Rob

Have you set thicknesses at Tools, Options, Doc Props, Line Font?

Rob,

Matt is correct by first looking at Doc props/line font settings. There are also toolbars for layers and line format, which I have found useful to set non-default line wt thicknesses for borders and title box geo (edit sheet format mode). I use the same ancient HP designjet

450C as you (I thought I had last working one). One item on my SWx drawing wish list is to be able to set a thicker line wt boundry of part views in a drawing. Something I could do in Acad via a lisp routine and a custom plot style table (pen assignments). It gave a nice look to my drawings.

Good luck

Harry

Yes sir, line weights are all set in document properties. I am going to try a new driver for my plotter and see if it solves the problem. It looks like the same problem in SW2007.

Cheers,

At my last company every single drawing was created using a D-size template and usually printed on B-size paper. This was because the boss liked the relative size of the title block size. It also made it easier in terms of standardization and consistency. However I found that because the drawing was essentially being shrunk to fit the smaller paper, any changes to the line weight had a diminished effect. For example if I increase the line width by .002" it wasn't visible on the B-size printer at 600dpi (.0017" dot) because .002" in my D size dwg came out to .001" on the B-size printout. However, since the printer could only resolve lines in increments of .0017", this .001" increase in line width made no difference in the actual printout. I ended up just fiddling with line weights for a while until the printouts came out to my boss' liking. I then ported the new settings from pc to pc (using either a .reg file or the save settings wizard).
