how would it be different from IGES/STEP and all others B-rep based representations ? I expect it will be at least based on XML, but then how different will it be from VRML/X3D ? I have a different idea

Philippe, the idea is to let MS 'develop' something similar and then see your lawyers for a healthy settlement ....after a respectable bit of posturing of course ;-)
That looks like yet another import/export format thing. The mention of bitmaps & such .... (JPEGs are "lossy" too, IIRC, being a bit compressed to achive the smaller file sizes.) Sounds like a graphics file, not model geometry, made of surfaces & suchlike. Or polygons ....
