I am not sure how others use the number field in PDMWorks. Currently we are rolling out PDMWorks and working the kinks out. Right now I am thinking of having the "number" field be the same as the file name. What do some of you put in the number field.?
Also if you automate a "number" custom property in your part template with $PRP:"SW-File Name" it copies the file name to the number field. This is very cool, unless you "rename" the document in PDMWorks, then it does not update the number field, unless you check the document out and check it back in. Also it you are using SW04 sp4.1 with pdmwork 05 that trick doesnt work at all, it brings in the number field at $prp:"SW-File Name" instead of the actually file name.
So how do you guys manage the "number field"?
