Photoworks frustration - help please!

I am trying to use Photoworks 2 in SWX 4 sp 1.

Why am I having so much trouble copying and pasting materials?? If I open the part I want to copy and copy it, when I go into my other part to paste it the 'Paste' menu item is not highlighted and is therefore not available.

All help appreciated.

Les

Have You looked in the helpfiles how to add material to a part or face....seems like You're a bit off pist here....if You're trying to paste a material to a part in PW.

Not sure Les in at all off pist here! It does mention in the PW2 help about using Cut, Copy and paste in the "material manager section"

Cut - Cuts a custom material from a folder. You cannot cut a predefined material. Copy - Copies a custom or predefined material. Paste - Pastes a custom or predefined material into a custom folder.

The majority of my application of materials in PW1 used the "Copy" and "Paste" function from the PhotoWorks drop down menu. I have found that using the method of highlighting the part in the assembly feature tree and copying it to another part using the photoworks drop down is very difficult, if not impossible in PW2, as Les suggests the "Paste" function in PW2 is almost always greyed out! After a little work I have found that going to the PhotoWorks tab at the bottom of the feature tree and expanding the material and copying from there is more successful.

Hope this helps Les.

You need to open the PW2 property manager by clicking the tab at the top of the feature manager. Once that comes select the material you would like to copy and then click the paste button in the PW2 toolbar. Next select the feature, part or face you would like to copy the material to and then hit the paste button in the PW2 toolbar. I believe you have to select a place to copy the material to before the paste button becomes available

You're right ....I have to apoligize for my answer .....must admit that this option slipped through under my eyes, even though I've used PW quite a lot.

Under the PhotoWorks pull-down menu, there is a "Cut", "Copy" and "Paste" selection.
