SW2005 Section Views Not Updating Properly

Jun 24, 2005 2 Replies

Has anyone else found this to be true? We do machine design, so section views in drawings are an everyday occurance. Follow these steps and let me know if you have the same experience.

Section views do not update when used with assemblies after a part is added to the assembly.

Step 1. have a drawing of an assembly that has a section view. Step 2. open the assembly and add a part that would be cut by the section line. Step 3. rebuild and save the assembly. Step 4. switch back to the drawing and inspect the section view. Step 5. find that the section view shows the new part but the new part is not section cut until you perform step 6. Step 6. Edit the section line sketch and move the sketched line. rebuild the section view and the new part is now cut in the section. IS THERE A SETUP PROBLEM HERE? IS THERE A USER PROBLEM HERE? THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED BACK IN SW2005 SP2.0 AND WAS REPORTEDLY FIXED IN SP 4.0

When I tried this long awaited fix in the SP 4.0 early visibility just released, it is not fixed. Unfortunately, I don't have an SPR # to refer back too.

I don't know why it does this but it's been a problem for some time. IIRC you can just right click the section view, go to the section scope tab and deselect the item that's failing to be sectioned.

I tried your "Work-Around" but found that there wasn't any parts in the section scope for me to deselect.

The only way I found to "Work-Around" this problem is to do as I mention in Step 6 of my process described earlier in this thread.
